BUTTERWORTH – Fifteen passengers on an express bus came close to death when the bus they were travelling in skidded before overturning at KM5.5 of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road here early this morning.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Faisol Zainudin said the victims, including the bus driver, sustained only minor injuries in the 4.21am incident.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the team found an express bus had skidded and overturned on the side of the road, and we managed to remove 16 victims, including the bus driver, from the vehicle.

“All the victims – six men and 10 women – were given initial treatment by Health Ministry officials at the scene, before they were all taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for further treatment,” he said when contacted here today.

He said the operation ended at 5.29 am. – Bernama, February 6, 2023
