KUALA LUMPUR – The Human Resources Ministry via the Social Security Organisation (Socso)  will be launching the Housewives Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) and MYFutureJobs 2023 Career Carnival at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Saturday and Sunday.

Socso said in a statement issued today that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to launch the event on February 11, bringing the scheme closer to the people and organising open job interviews and other job services on a large scale.

At the two-day event, the public will have the opportunity to interact directly with Socso to understand the benefits offered under the scheme, and get access to consultancy and registration at the booths provided.

“Husbands and third parties like non-governmental organisations or private firms are also encouraged to sponsor deductions on behalf of the housewives,” said the statement.

First implemented on December 1, 2022, SKSSR offers benefits under the Domestic Disaster Protection and Disability Coverage such as medical benefits, permanent disability benefits, illness allowance, funeral management benefits, and survivors’ pension.

The Housewives' Social Security Act 2022 (Act 838) is open to local women and permanent residents aged less than 55 years old, and full-time or part-time homemakers who are married, or bachelors.

Meanwhile, the MYFuture Career Carnival 2023 is the first big-scale carnival to be organised by Socso this year. The carnival offers more than 13,000 jobs from 140 companies across various sectors and industries, with about 20% of them open to people with disabilities.

Open from 9am to 5pm, the carnival will see the involvement of major employers such as Maybank, BSN, EXIM Bank, KTM Malaysia, ExxonMobil, UMW, UOA Group, and Avisena Healthcare.

According to the statement, various free employment services activities will also be provided such as the preparation of resumes, registration on the MYFutureJobs portal, as well as career guidance and advice and various exciting lucky draw prizes.

“This carnival is one of the ministry’s ongoing efforts through Socso to create sustainable employment opportunities for all levels of society, including the vulnerable such as the disabled," according to the statement.

Socso encourages job seekers to register at www.myfuturejobs.gov.my/career before attending the career carnival, while employers interested in participating in the career carnival can contact the Socso employment service officer.
