KUALA LUMPUR – Ministers have been instructed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to comb through the Auditor-General’s Report 2021 Series 2, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

“The prime minister stressed that ministers need to scrutinise reports involving their respective ministries even though the findings may be related to previous issues. The issues raised in the report must be resolved immediately,” he said in a press conference after the cabinet meeting in Putrajaya today.

On January 17, Anwar reportedly ordered the cabinet to examine the AG report’s remarks on expenses and leakages.

According to the report released on February 16, programmes carried out by the federal government had weaknesses and not necessarily met set targets.

Fahmi said his ministry will investigate leakage allegations involving the Digital Content Fund.

Previously, the A-G’s Report found that RM4 million from the Digital Content Fund was allocated to six companies, of which some were owned by family members of Finas board members.

In January, Anwar had advised the civil service to not be afraid to report any form of power abuse even if it was coming from him. – The Vibes, March 3, 2023
