KUALA LUMPUR – The installation of the 42.67m bailey bridge on the main road to Felda Selancar, Rompin, Pahang will start immediately after bank-strengthening works are carried out.

Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said in a post on Facebook here today that the bank-strengthening work is important to ensure the bailey bridge is robust and safe for road users.

“I understand the anxiety experienced by the residents of Felda Selancar who have to wait patiently for their main road to be reconnected, with the construction of the bailey bridge as a temporary route before repair on the section cut off by floods is carried out,” he said.

Nanta also called on all parties involved in the embankment work and installation of the bailey bridge to ensure the bridge is robust.

“The safety of all parties involved, including consumers, is the ministry’s priority,” he said.

On March 1, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the construction of a bailey bridge on the main road of Felda Selancar, Rompin, which collapsed due to the overflow of heavy water following heavy rain. – Bernama, March 4, 2023
