KUANTAN – Three high-risk expectant mothers in their first stage of labour and who were cut off due to a road collapse in Felda Selancar, Rompin were successfully brought out via a mercy flight by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all of them are now receiving treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) maternity ward here, after being taken by ambulance to the hospital at 8.33pm once the helicopter landed at the RMAF airport here.

“The mercy flight was mobilised after the Rompin district health office received information from Perwira Jaya Health Clinic at 10.30am regarding the condition of the pregnant mothers.

“An obstetric retrieval team from HTAA comprising an obstetric medical officer and health nurse was flown to Felda Selancar at 4.51pm using an RMAF helicopter,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

Dr Noor Hisham said the team arrived at the location at 6.15 pm and the three patients were examined and found to be stable before being flown out.

Dr Noor Hisham thanked all parties, including RMAF, the Rompin District Disaster Operations Control Centre, and the Pahang government who helped facilitate the rescue mission.
