Family seeks help to locate Air Force personnel missing over a week
Two police reports have since been lodged - September 1, 2025

AN Air Force personnel based in Subang, Muhammad Ammar Mohd Ariffin, 27, has been reported missing for over a week after failing to return to camp and unreachable by his family.

Ammar, who is currently taking a course at the Material Management Training Institute (Insmat) in Bandar Kinrara, was supposed to report to camp on August 24 at 10pm but his whereabouts remain unknown.

According to his sister, Anis Aqilah Mohd Ariffin, the family first became aware of Ammar's disappearance when they received a call from his supervisor that night.

"My mother got a call saying my brother had not reported in. We tried to contact him many times, but his phone was switched off. His WhatsApp was only a single tick since that night. We were all very worried because there was no news at all," she said as reported by Berita Harian.

Based on information obtained by the family from friends and authorities, Ammar was last seen on Saturday, August 23.

It is understood that on that morning, he was said to have gone jogging at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam with his girlfriend.

A few hours later, Ammar went out with his colleagues to do some errands at Sungai Kedondong, Batang Kali.

According to them, Ammar arrived quite late and was not sure where he parked his vehicle and after that, no one knew where he was.

However, the day before that, on Friday night (August 22), Ammar is believed to have been involved in a minor accident where he hit the back of a vehiclel, believed to belong to a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) officer.

“The police said it was possible that my brother panicked and was scared because he hit an officer’s car. But what worries us is whether he is okay. That’s what we want to know,” said Anis.

At the same time, two police reports were lodged - by supervisor at the Kinrara Police Station while Ammar's mother lodged another report at the Ulu Yam Police Station.

Since his disappearance, Ammar's family has searched for him at all nearby hospitals and checked using his identity card number, but no admission record has been found so far.

Serdang OCPD Muhamad Farid Ahmad said they have since received the report and are investigating the missing persons case.

"We urge those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Sukri Che Mat at 03-80762222 or 03-80713136," he said. – September 1, 2025
