THE Prime Minister's recent sharing while serving his prison sentence in Sungai Buloh has drawn words of encouragement from the rakyat, with many urging PMX to continue the struggle for a better future.
Through a post on his social media, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared a picture of himself talking with his family using the prison phone from behind the glass.
"Memories in Sungai Buloh. Meeting the family behind the glass, only by phone. Moments that remain in memory," he said.
On November 3, 2016, the High Court granted Anwar leave to initiate judicial review to allow physical contact between him and his family during prison visits.
However, on 12 April 2018, the Court of Appeal rejected his family's appeal to allow physical contact during prison visits.
A three-member panel of judges, comprising Justices Datuk Ahmadi Asnawi, Datuk Vernon Ong Lam Kiat and Datuk Suraya Othman, held that the appeal brought by Anwar and nine other appellants had no merit.
Justice Ahmadi said the letter of the Sungai Buloh Prison Director, dated March 14, 2016, rejecting Anwar and his family’s request to have physical contact during visits was reasonable as it did not contravene the prison rules.
