PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the death of the late Noorizwan Zulkefly.
He said he has contacted the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Mohd. Khalid Ismail, for further details regarding the case, and that the family of the deceased must be kept informed of the investigation's progress.
“I have taken note of the arrival of the late Noorizwan Zulkefly’s family, who came to submit an appeal letter to me today,” he said in a Facebook post.
Previously, the deceased was detained at the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD) in connection with a case investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 457 of the Penal Code, and Section 379 of the Penal Code.

On September 30, Noorizwan was referred to the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM) for medical treatment; he was subsequently pronounced dead at 1:52 am on October 1.
The Prime Minister expressed his condolences over the passing, acknowledging the grief and distress of the family, who are awaiting answers regarding the case.
Regarding the submission of an appeal letter, Anwar stated that his aide would accept the document on his behalf, as he is scheduled to attend several events in Melaka today.
“I have delegated an aide to receive the letter and to personally hear the concerns raised by the family,” he said. – October 24, 2026
