KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has been given an extension to his tenure for two years on a contract basis following mandatory retirement.
In a statement by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, today, the decision was made in line with Clause 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the federal constitution.
“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, on the advice of the prime minister and endorsement by the Police Force Commission (SPP), had consented to the contractual appointment upon retirement of Razarudin for a period of two years from today (March 16) to March 15, 2025,” he said.
The 60-year-old had been serving as the deputy IGP since December 26, 2021 to replace Tan Sri Mazlan Lazim, who went on compulsory retirement.
Razarudin was earlier the former Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director.
Earlier this month, IGP Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani had reportedly said that the Royal Malaysian Police has identified several qualified candidates to fill the vacancy.
SPP then will determine the eligible candidate to replace Razarudin, who was to retire on March 14. – The Vibes, March 16, 2023
