KUALA LUMPUR – Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu leads a delegation from the ministry for a three-day working visit to Indonesia from today.

The ministry said the visit is aimed at exploring new technologies and approaches used by Indonesia to increase rice production.

“This is in line with the National Agrofood Policy 2.0 to increase the country’s rice and paddy production as the staple food of Malaysians,” the ministry said in a statement today.

During the visit, Mohamad will also pay a courtesy call to the representative of Indonesian Agriculture Minister, Harvick Hasnul Qolbi on Monday to strengthen collaboration in the agricultural field, including the economy, investment and technical areas.

Mohamad is also scheduled to visit the Biotechnology Research Development and Application Centre in Serang, Banten for a closer look at the success of the Indonesian rice industry.

He will be accompanied by the ministry’s deputy secretary-general (development) Datuk Badrul Hisham Mohd and senior officials. – Bernama, March 17, 2023
