KOTA KINABALU – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has accepted two new parties into its stable – Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan)

The Sabah coalition now has Gagasan Rakyat, Parti Bersatu Sabah, Usno, Sabah Progressive Party, and Sabah Star, plus the two new parties.

The inclusion of the two new parties was announced by GRS information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai via his Facebook page tonight.

“Attended the GRS supreme council meeting chaired by the chief minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. Among the decisions made was to accept the entry of LDP and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah into GRS,“ he said.

LDP is led by Datuk Seri Chin Su Phin and does not have any elected representatives.

On the other hand, Harapan is led by Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah and has one assemblyman via its deputy president Rina Jainal, the elected representative for Kukusan.

GRS is led by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor who also leads Gagasan Rakyat party. He was previously the Sabah Bersatu leader.

Gagasan Rakyat is now the largest component party in GRS with 27 state assemblymen including two appointed assemblymen, five former Warisan assemblymen, and four former Umno assemblymen who left the party recently.– The Vibes, April 5, 2023
