KOTA KINABALU – The search-and-rescue operation to find a missing 7-year-old girl believed to have drowned in Sg Penawan in Kg Sinsingon, Sapulut, Nabawan, continues for the sixth day today.

The victim, identified as Carbrineleyvonne Joffrinos, has not yet been found following the incident that happened on Tuesday, in which a boat carrying a family of five sank following strong river currents.

Her mother, Lerina Rody, 26, and her son, Joffizan Joffrinos, 6, were found dead at the scene.

Her father, Joffrinos Palandok, 36, and his 5-year-old son Jilan Joffrinos managed to save themselves.

During the rescue operation, a group of villagers volunteered to assist in searching for the victim. Unfortunately, one of them, Lasimin Mantun, 38, fell into the river on the second day of the search on Wednesday.

Lasimin’s body was found two days later on April 14 some 10km away from where he fell.
