KUALA TERENGGANU – Former Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy director (Operations) Datuk Mazli Mazlan has been appointed as the new Terengganu police chief, effective today.

Mazli, who is the 31st Terengganu police chief, took over the job from Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa who has been appointed as Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director (Investigation).

The handing over of duties was witnessed by Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department director Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan at the Terengganu Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

Mazli, when met by the media afterward, said he will continue all the strategies planned by the previous leadership in ensuring that the crime index in the state remains low thus having a big impact on the people.

“I will also look into a more structured and aggressive approach including doubling the enforcement force in an effort to reduce the state’s accident rate,” he said.

Mazli is among 61 senior police officers involved in transfers and promotions as announced by the Royal Malaysia Police last month. – Bernama, May 3, 2023
