BALIK PULAU – DAP will defend all of its seats in next month’s six state elections, said secretary-general Anthony Loke.

Loke said that there were no changes in the number of seats being contested.

“The number of seats (which DAP is contesting) has not changed; we will be contesting all the seats which were won by DAP in the previous elections.

“I have not counted the number of seats, but DAP has 19 seats in Penang,” he told reporters, after presenting driver’s licences, under the MyLesen B2 programme, at a driving school in Balik Pulau here today.

Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan will go to the polls on August 12, with nominations set on July 29 and early voting on August 8.

In the 2018 general election, DAP won 48 state seats in the six states, including 19 in Penang, 16 in Selangor, 11 in Negri Sembilan, and 12 in Kedah.

On the list of candidates, Loke said that he had not yet received the names from all six states.

According to him, the names of the candidates and the distribution of seats will be announced before nomination day. – Bernama, July 8, 2023
