KANGAR – Perlis has the potential to be one of the country’s top ecotourism destinations in the future, said the Perlis regent Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

“Ecotourism is a rapidly growing sector of the tourism industry and I greatly support any investment in developing ecotourism sites that will provide an authentic experience for visitors,” his royal highness said in a statement issued by Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra Perlis (YTSP) today.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this when officiating the “Perlis: The Undeniable Charm” promotion event held in conjunction with Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025 which was attended by tourism industry players for the Los Angeles, United States market yesterday.

Also present were the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and their son Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Jamalullail.

The consulate-general of Malaysia in Los Angeles, United States, Anil Fahriza Adenan and Tourism Malaysia Los Angeles Office vice president Akbal Setia as host, were present to greet their highnesses on their arrival.

Meanwhile, according to the statement, Akbal said among the ecotourism destinations and products that are available in Perlis are Wang Kelian, Gua Kelam, Bukit Keteri and Tasik Timah Tasoh.

He added that these attractions are also strategically located close to Langkawi Island and Penang.

He said Perlis can be a popular destination for tourists seeking nature eco-adventure and pristine landscapes.

“We are very excited to showcase the beautiful and unique tourist attractions that Perlis has to offer as an important step in positioning the state as a new must-visit destination in Malaysia for US tourists, especially those visiting Penang and Langkawi islands.

At the event, guests were also introduced to Perlis and Malaysian traditional and signature dishes. – Bernama, August 5, 2023
