KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar lost the race for Alor Mengkudu in the Kedah election today to Perikatan Nasional’s Muhamad Radhi Mat Din, a former footballer.

According to data from the Election Commission, the Kedah Pakatan Harapan chief was left trailing his rival by 10,104 votes.

Radhi secured 18,936 votes, while Mahfuz notched 8,832 ballots.

The candidates had previously faced off in the 2018 election for the Pokok Sena parliamentary seat, when Mahfuz had triumphed by a 5,558-vote margin. – Bernama, August 12, 2023
