PETALING JAYA — Hot meals, albeit simplified, are slowly being reinstated on board Malaysia Airlines' flights.
In a statement today, the national carrier said business class passengers to Bangkok and Denpasar have been served hot meals since September 11.
Meanwhile economy class passengers to both destinations began receiving hot meals today.
Those travelling to South India in business class will be served satay.
As for other Asean cities, hot meals will be reintroduced in stages.
Other routes to be served hot meals are Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Manila and Hong Kong.
This comes as Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) announced it has received an earlier than expected delivery of 10 high-lift trucks which are crucial equipment in serving hot meals on board flights.
The high-lift truck is important as it ensures food quality and safety standards.
"They ensure that the meal carts are uplifted at the correct temperatures, preserving the freshness of hot and ambient meals, while also maintaining stringent practices throughout the process,” MAG said in a statement.
Malaysia Airlines had been on the receiving end of criticism since September 1 when its catering service suffered disruption as they announced transitioning to a new catering service.
Previously, the airline ended its contract with its long-time in-flight catering Brahim's Food Services.
Passengers took to social media to slam the national carrier for its pre-packed meals which consisted of pastries, water and fruits. — The Vibes, September 15, 2023
