PETALING JAYA - A woman witnessed a driver being reckless on the road last week and decided to lodge a police report.

Taking to social media, the woman claimed there was a point where the driver had almost run her over.

However, what shocked her was the reaction she received when she lodged the report.

Nur Afiqah, who goes by @fiqapong on Twitter claimed that the officer who took her report kicked off the process by asking her why she was making the report if she wasn't hit.

"And when I made a police report, the first question asked was did he hit you? If he didn't then why are you lodging a report?" Nur Afiqah posted on Twitter where she also uploaded a copy of the police report.

According to Nur Afiqah, she believed the driver was drunk as she had seen him walk out of a cafe near the Symphony Hotel in Ipoh.

She claimed the 'uncle could barely stand/walk, let alone drive."

In sharing her encounter with the police officer, Nur Afiqah hoped the police, and everyone would take the issue seriously.

As her sharing went viral, Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan issued a statement the same day (Oct 7) to stress that the police took these types of complaints seriously.

He said the matter has been referred to the Integrity and Standards Compliance Division of the Ipoh Police Headquarters for internal investigation. - The Vibes, October 9, 2023
