PETALING JAYA – Two men have been arrested for posting threats against the prime minister and inspector-general of police.

According to reports in The New Straits Times, police have since confirmed the arrest of the two men.

One man, believed to be the owner of the Facebook account “Nekad Hikers Ventures” and aged about 51 years old, was apprehended by police yesterday in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.

The second arrest was made in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, also yesterday, involving a 27-year-old believed to be the owner of a Facebook account, “Jgad Zruu”.

The report said the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication.

It is also being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which concerns the improper use of network facilities and other related matters.

Police reminded the public to be responsible and considerate users of social media, especially when it comes to sensitive issues involving public disorder and national security. – The Vibes, October 28, 2023
