PETALING JAYA – A fourth Bersatu MP has thrown his support behind Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement today, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik said his decision was aimed at ensuring the well-being of his constituents and he wanted to provide the best for them.

“My priority is my constituents, and I cannot compromise when it comes to the development of infrastructure in my constituency.

“However, I will remain loyal to Bersatu,” he said, adding that there was no pressure from any quarters to support Anwar.

Just yesterday, Gua Musang MP Datuk Azizi Abu Naim also said he had decided to back Anwar’s government for the sake of his constituents.

Citing similar reasons, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid and Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman had also pledged their backing for Anwar.

The Bersatu disciplinary board had since suspended Iskandar and Suhaili for four and six years respectively on grounds that the duo had breached the party’s constitution. – The Vibes, November 8, 2023
