LOCAL football fans will be able to watch all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup through Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV following a strategic collaboration with three of the country’s major telecommunications companies, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

He said the collaboration involving Unifi, CelcomDigi and U Mobile would not only expand public access to world-class sporting content but also strengthen the role of public broadcasting in delivering quality content at no additional cost.

“Earlier, RTM, as the public broadcaster under the Ministry of Communications, officially announced a strategic collaboration with three major telecommunications companies in the country, namely Unifi, CelcomDigi and U Mobile.

“Today, I am pleased to announce that all 104 matches will be broadcast on RTM and Unifi TV. Therefore, both platforms will air the full 104 matches,” he said at the weekly press conference at RTM reported by Bernama, today.

Fahmi said the initiative reflected the MADANI Government’s commitment to expanding public access to quality content while leveraging sports as a medium for national unity.

Meanwhile, RTM director-general Ashwad Ismail said the involvement of corporate sponsors had enabled the government to minimise expenditure in securing the broadcasting rights for the prestigious tournament.

“This is the result of strategic cooperation among various parties, largely involving corporate sponsors, and it represents the minimum expenditure (by RTM),” he said.

Previously, Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesman, said broadcasts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup would be available across multiple platforms, including free-to-air transmission via MyTV, as well as over-the-top (OTT) streaming through RTM Klik and Unifi TV to ensure comprehensive access.

He said Unifi TV would broadcast all 104 matches live, while RTM would air the majority of matches either live or on delayed telecast according to the schedule set.

The 2026 edition will see the United States, Mexico and Canada cohost the tournament, with the opening match scheduled to take place in Mexico City on June 11, while the final will be held in New Jersey on July 19. – May 13, 2026
