KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Football League (MFL) will make a decision and announce its new chief executive officer on Monday after the board members meeting.

Newly-elected president, Datuk Ghani Hassan, said that MFL is currently looking at two candidates for the position but declined to reveal further details on the matter.

“We will decide and announce it on Monday. For now, all I can say is that we are looking at two candidates and will pick the one that fits best. Hopefully, this person, who comes in to replace me as CEO, can help improve things here.”

Yesterday, sources in the football fraternity revealed to The Vibes that Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) general-secretary, Stuart Ramalingam, is expected to assume the position of MFL CEO after a collective agreement from the board members.

However, Ghani said the decision will only be made on Monday during the meeting and declined to comment on Stuart.

“Everyone will know on Monday. That is all I can say for now,” he told The Vibes when contacted.

Meanwhile, Ghani said that he did not expect to be elected as MFL president but hopes to do his best to bring in more sponsors for the M-League.

Ghani stressed the importance of working with the new CEO on a strategy that would increase traction and attract sponsors for the M-League.

“My aim is to do the best for Malaysian football. We need to get in more sponsors, but I understand that the current situation does not permit it; this pandemic has badly hurt all of us, especially Malaysian football.

“Business is slow; thus, sponsors are reluctant to commit. We need to devise a new approach,” he said. – The Vibes, August 18, 2021
