KUALA LUMPUR - sooka, Malaysia’s latest mobile streaming service and the home of Malaysia’s favourite entertainment, is celebrating Merdeka by inviting all Malaysians to stream and enjoy a specially curated list of local and iconic Malaysian movies through its ‘sooka Dooka Kita Bersama, Sentiasa’ campaign. The campaign will also offer users special promotional discounts on its existing VIP plans starting 27th August 2021. 

The ‘sooka Dooka Kita Bersama, Sentiasa’ campaign offers an array of exclusive stories that have shaped our lives as Malaysians, now made available for audiences to stream directly on their mobile devices. The list of iconic movies include the likes of Talentime and Mukhsin from the venerable, late Yasmin Ahmad; Buli, Papadom, and Appalam from Afdlin Shauki; Cinta and Sepi from Kabir Bhatia; and classics from the late Tan Sri P.Ramlee.

Not to be missed also are the more recent Malaysian feature films such as Polis Evo 2, Aku Posmen, Ola Bola, Hantu Bonceng 2.0, Mael Totey, and the inspirational story of Datuk Lee Chong Wei in his self-titled biopic, Lee Chong Wei.

Emarina Mohd Kamal, Head of Programming, sooka, said: “We believe that movies are the most impactful form of entertainment, allowing us to share stories that are near and dear to us. Talentime, and Ola Bola are great examples of how shared experiences, like a love for football, or memories of our time in our “Sekolah Kebangsaan,” can bring us together and truly embody the spirit of Malaysians. 

“Through this campaign, we want to take the opportunity to remind Malaysians that there is no better time to celebrate unity than in this month of August. The stories that we have curated is representative of this and in the spirit of Merdeka, we want to give Malaysians the freedom to stream your favourite Malaysian movies, anywhere and anytime, on your mobile devices,” Emarina concluded. 

This Merdeka, sooka will have a limited time offer - 50% off subscription fees for its VIP Entertainment and VIP+Sports plans. The VIP Entertainment plan, offering premium Malay drama series, movies, and LIVE variety entertainment will now be available for RM7.90 (originally priced at RM15.90 per month).

For avid sports fans, the VIP+Sports plan that offers unlimited access to the best live sports actions all year round, is priced at RM20.90 (originally priced at RM41.90 per month). This offer is valid from 27 August till 17 September 2021.
