CARACAS − Venezuelan triple jumper and Olympic medallist, Yulimar Rojas, said yesterday that she will remain as part of the athletics team of Barcelona despite having received offers from other sports clubs.

Yulimar, a gold medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, said she is grateful to Barcelona for support they've given her over the past five years.

"They have treated me excellently. I have received a lot of love from them. I am very loved in that prestigious club, it’s so beautiful. The club gave me a hand when I had nothing, when I had no world titles," Yulimar said during an interview at the Venezuelan Olympic Committee.

The athlete returned to Venezuela on Tuesday. She was given a hero's welcome after Yuilmar broke the Diamond League record and won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Yulimar also said that she would be preparing to compete in the long jump next year as well as dabble in modelling.

Yulimar delivered the biggest shock win in the history of Venezuelan athletes after shattering the world record with a jump of 15.67m and winning gold at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

She has been one of the Tokyo Games revelations, becoming the first Venezuelan ever to win the triple jump at the Olympics.
