KUALA LUMPUR – Kelantan United FC has confirmed that Fakhrul Zaman Wan Abdullah Zawawi is the player who is being investigated for an alleged rape of a teenage girl in Kota Baru.
In a statement yesterday, its chief operating officer Wan Mohd Zul Ikman said the club is aware of the convictions against Fakhrul.
“Kelantan United FC fully trusts the authorities and await a full report on the alleged case against the player.
“The club has always upheld the country’s laws and will not tolerate any immoral behaviour by any party within the club.
“However, Kelantan United FC still adheres to the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’, therefore if found guilty, a decision will be made according to the law and as per stated in the contract,” he said.
He also added that Fakhrul has been rested until further notice.
Previously, it was reported that a 28-year-old local football player was arrested in Jalan Pantai Chaya Bulan, Kota Baru to assist in the investigation into the rape of a teenage girl. – The Vibes, June 7, 2022
