KUALA LUMPUR – The future of the Shah Alam stadium hangs in balance as the special committee is still studying all options as no decision has been made currently, said an insider within the fraternity.

“The committee is studying all possible options and people will have to wait for the announcement, which will be made soon,” said the source.

It has been speculated that the 80,372 capacity Shah Alam stadium will be torn down and replaced with a smaller capacity stadium.

“Nothing has been decided yet,” the source revealed to The Vibes

It is believed that Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will make an announcement on the fate of the stadium on July 25 during the Rancangan Selangor Satu event.

The stadium falls under the management of Darul Ehsan Facilities Management (DEFM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI).

The facility has been left stagnant with no evidence of repair works being done, despite a news report stating that in August 2020, the entire repair for the facility would cost up to RM250 million.

Replacing the polycarbonate roof alone would cost RM30 million and would take four to six months, yet it is already mid-2022 and nothing has been done – all while the Selangor football team has temporarily relocated to the Petaling Jaya City Council stadium. – The Vibes, July 1, 2022.
