KUALA LUMPUR – National men’s doubles pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi might not be competing in the upcoming Malaysia Masters due to Covid-19. 

After their loss in the Malaysia Open quarter-finals match against Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto on Friday, Yew Sin tested positive for Covid-19. 

“When I woke up this morning my throat was not feeling normal. So, I did a self-test before I went for training. 

After training, I did another test and a double-line appeared. So, I did a PCR test, and it was confirmed,” he posted on social media.

“If I have troubled you or your family, I am sorry about it.”

He also posted that he is experiencing fever, headache, sore throat, cough, and flu.

“No big deal, don’t worry guys. Thanks for your concern. See you guys soon,” he said on Instagram. 

The pair is currently set to compete in the Malaysia Masters next week at the Axiata Arena, before heading south for the Singapore Open the following week. – The Vibes, July 3, 2022
