KUALA NERUS – Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach, Nafuzi Zain said he was satisfied with the performance of his men despite losing 1-2 at the hands of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in their Super League match at home last night.

Nafuzi said his players gave their best performance by fighting all the way, even without the presence of some key players who were rested due to injury and health issues.

“Despite narrowly losing 1-2, I am proud of tonight’s line-up of players who played all out and fought till the end.

“It is true that our target was to win three points, but with only three import pillars on the field, I am still satisfied with the result of the match,” he said after the match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium here.

The defeat ended TFC’s 10-match unbeaten record at home while eight-time Super League champions JDT continued to sit comfortably at the top of the league after collecting 38 points from 14 matches.

According to Nafuzi, last night’s match also gave him a little insight into the challenges that the Turtles squad will face when they meet JDT in the FA Cup final.

He said the team lacked finishing, which has been haunting the team for a long time.

“We can also see this weakness through the number of goals scored. We are one of the lowest teams in terms of goals scored in the Super League this season,” he said.

Meanwhile, JDT coach Hector Pablo Bidoglio praised TFC’s style of play, which was able to give his team a stiff fight.

“We knew this would be a tough game. Terengganu are a tough team. Both teams did a good job, but finally, we got three points against Terengganu and it is the most important thing,” he said. – Bernama, August 11, 2022
