KUALA LUMPUR – 700 Sukan Malaysia volunteers or also known as Satria@Sukan Malaysia will be helping to ensure the smooth running of the 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2022 which will be held from September 16 to 24.

Sukma organising committee chairman, Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan said the launching of the volunteer programme today complements the Games' preparation.

“The volunteer programme is a form of cooperation between the Games’ organiser, National Sports Council and the volunteers who have registered with the Youth and Sports Ministry.

“A total of 10,755 applications were received from various backgrounds as volunteers and from the number, 700 were selected to carry the brand Satria@Sukan Malaysia in the coming Sukma,” he told reporters after the Flag Off of Assignment for Satria@Sukan Malaysia here today.

Jana Santhiran said all volunteers chosen had been given courses and would be assigned to assist 13 sub-committees of Sukma managers at each competition venue in the Klang Valley and Langkawi.

In this regard, Jana Santhiran who is also the Youth Ministry secretary-general said the level of preparedness for holding Sukma had achieved 100%.

“All are ready to go, we will do our best for every contingent taking part in this year’s Sukma.

“State teams have started to register and they would be given a briefing on the operation of the event. Athletes just got to go out and do their best in the competition,” he said.

Jana Santhiran also said there will be five sports village zones with the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as the main sports village zone for Sukma.

He said, the other sports village zones are at Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Tenaga Nasional and Langkawi. – Bernama, September 10, 2022
