KUALA LUMPUR – With Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed as the 10th prime minister, the public is now curious about his unity cabinet that is expected to be announced soon.

However, the main focus here is who should become the next youth and sports minister in this unity government.

Malaysia has had three different youth and sports ministers in the past five years, starting from Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman when he was appointed under the Pakatan Harapan government, who was then the youngest cabinet member at 25.

He was followed by Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican under the Perikatan Nasional administration from March 2020 to August 2021.

After him was Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who became the minister under the Barisan Nasional-led administration and served until November 2022.

In light of this, the Vibes Sports team has sought public opinion on potential candidates to head the ministry, and it looks like there are high expectations for Faizal’s successor. – The Vibes, December 1, 2022
