KUALA TERENGGANU – Terengganu FC (TFC) have signed Haitian Sony Norde to help strengthen the squad for the new season of the Super League.

Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ab Rasid Jusoh said the 33-year-old striker had signed a one-year contract with the team.

“Norde, who will take the No 11 jersey, will play in the attacking and wing positions, depending on the tactical formation that will be employed by head coach Tomislav Steinbruckner.

“He (Norde) has displayed very good attacking skills when he played with Melaka United FC this season. We hope that his presence can (help) strengthen the team next season,” he said in a statement issued last night.

Meanwhile, Norde said he was thrilled to have the opportunity to play with the Turtles squad, which is regarded as the country’s football giants.

Norde said that the opportunity to play in the AFC Cup next year and the strong support shown by football fans in Terengganu were among the reasons he decided to be with TFC.

The 1.78m tall player began his professional football career by joining Argentina’s Boca Juniors from 2008 to 2011, before playing for San Luis B and Altamira of the Mexican League.

He has also played for Sheikh Russel KC and SJD Club in the Bangladesh League; Indian clubs Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC; and Azerbaijan’s Zira FK before moving to Melaka United FC. – Bernama, December 2, 2022
