KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed support for the redevelopment of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) to be built in a timely and transparent manner, on schedule and within the budget.
In his royal address during the opening of the 14th state assembly today, the Selangor ruler also expressed hope that the new sport complex will renew the fighting spirit of the state’s football team and become a symbol of pride for the state.
“I hope that the redevelopment of the KSSA is done transparently, in a timely and orderly manner, according to budget and with quality so we will benefit appropriately from it.
“I am confident that KSSA can spur a new and glorious age for the red and yellow Selangor FC and become a symbol of pride for the people.”
The KSSA redevelopment will include commercial and residential areas, apart from sporting and leisure facilities, and will be spearheaded by Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated, an agency under the state government.
Previously, MBI officials said the state government is also looking to develop the area into a sports hub and a space for public gatherings for the community.
The design is meant to maximise the usage of the 188-acre stadium complex, which is currently underutilised, as well as address long-standing infrastructure issues. – The Vibes, March 13, 2023
