IPOH – Perak FC head coach Datuk Lim Teong Kim praised the sharpness displayed by his team’s front line to ensure that Perak FC managed to get their maiden victory in this season’s Super League when they beat Kuching City FC 2-0 at Perak Stadium here last night.

He said that despite being put under pressure, the two golden opportunities obtained in each half were successfully translated into goals by The Bos Gaurus’ attack machinery.

“I hope that these three points will be a starting point for Perak to continue their winning momentum in the upcoming matches.

“I also really expect the fans to flood the stadium after this because their support will boost the players’ spirit and determination to continue creating success," he said.

Teong Kim was also satisfied with the performance displayed by Nigerian import striker Christian Obiozor despite only scoring one goal after appearing in three league matches.

“For me, it is not only goals that are a measurement of performance, but efforts to defend and attack need to be emphasised. Overall, I am satisfied with the performance displayed by Christian,” he said.

Playing in front of some 4,000 spectators, The Bos Gaurus’ two goals were scored by South Korean import Seo Seonung in the 41st and 58th minutes.

Following last night’s victory, Perak now have collected five points and jumped to sixth position in the Super League while Kuching City FC are in 10th place with three points.

Meanwhile, Kuching City assistant head coach Sulaiman Hussin attributed the defeat to the poor performance displayed by his men throughout the 90 minutes of the game.

“We lost not because Perak played that well, but because our players made too many mistakes and failed to convert the opportunities created to goals,” he said.

Sulaiman said for the next match, his players need to rise up and not make silly mistakes if they want to notch a victory. – Bernama, March 13, 2023
