KUALA LUMPUR – Through a joint effort to further enhance the development of football at the grassroots level, 116 aspiring young footballers were selected to be part of the Milo X Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Ultimate Experience campaign.
Having displayed exemplary skills and characteristics, these players were carefully selected through joint collaborations between Milo and local community leagues for the campaign aimed to stimulate and develop them into future national stars.
Milo Malaysia’s marketing manager Kerwin Lim said the household brand’s long history with FAM in supporting the development of grassroots football laid the foundation for the Ultimate Experience campaign.
“Milo always believes that sports is a great teacher and these children can learn many useful values in football through the training programmes, drills, and coaching conducted by FAM.
“We are delighted to continue our initiatives with FAM in future campaigns as we share a common goal to empower and energise the young football talents to strive for success early in life,” he said in a statement.
Impressed with the youngsters, FAM’s head of grassroots and national women’s U-20 head coach Cameron Ng commended the players’ commitment, seriousness, and sportsmanship throughout the programme.
“These players appear to have high aptitude and I believe that they are on track with good footballing skills to prevail in the national team in the future.
“We want to pave the future for children who believe they are the stars of tomorrow. But the future also depends on the coaches who will guide our children to achieve their full potential.
“We at the leadership level will always support Milo’s initiatives, and our partnership ensures that training for both children and coaches will go hand-in-hand to create this holistic ecosystem,” he said.
Meanwhile, recent Milo Junior Champions League U-10 championship winner Ryan Khaliq from Velocity Football Academy expressed his gratitude to Milo for giving him a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“I’m honoured to be in this programme as it inspires me to progress better in my footballing career. I believe I can apply these lessons in my game and achieve greater successes by playing for Harimau Malaya in the future,” he said.
The ongoing Milo and FAM partnership aims to send more than 100,000 talents and 5,000 coaches into the FAM system.
The Milo Hidup Bola Futsal carnival is among the notable initiatives taken by Milo over the years as the championship has produced exciting national players such as Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat, Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi, Muhammad Azri Abdul Ghani, and Shivan Pillay. – The Vibes, March 27, 2023
