IPOH – Former Perak FC coach Datuk Lim Teong Kim will, as a last resort, take the dispute regarding his contract termination and wage demand against the management of the state football governing body to the industrial court.
Teong Kim, a former Academi Mokhtar Dahari technical director, said the second mediation, held jointly with the Perak FC administration at the Perak branch of the Malaysian Industrial Relations Department, had given both parties until August 26 to resolve the issue.
“So, when (the case) reaches the court, all oral statements (and) documentation will be looked at in detail, and the court will make the appropriate decision,” he told the media here today.
He said that, in principle, he hopes that the matter can be resolved harmoniously and without court intervention.
On June 27, Teong Kim filed a representation with the Perak branch of the Malaysian Industrial Relations Department regarding the wrongful termination of his contract by the Perak FC and asked for the remaining 16 months of his salary to be paid.
Teong Kim, together with his lawyer Adam Yap, filed the claim following his dismissal in May after serving eight months of the 24-month contract with Perak FC.
Meanwhile, Perak FC chief executive officer Bobie Farid Shamsuddin said Perak FC respected the rights of and the action taken by Teong Kim, but we are prepared to take the matter to court.
“He (Teong Kim) has the right to do what he wants and we stand firm on our position.
“He can do what he thinks is right and we have two discussions, so we will continue to move forward.
“We want the same thing too: that is, a peaceful resolution…the management will abide by the decision,” he said. – Bernama, August 3, 2023
