A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent altercation that occurred last Thursday at the Taman Cheng Utama intersection in Melaka.

The suspect, who works as a trader, was apprehended today at approximately 12.30 pm at the Batang Tiga Police Station in Klebang.

According to Melaka Tengah District Police Chief ACP Christopher Patit, initial investigations suggest that the confrontation between the suspect and the 52-year-old victim was sparked by a misunderstanding.

The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, with the suspect allegedly using a helmet to strike the victim.

"The victim has come forward to the Melaka Tengah District Police Headquarters (IPD) to provide a statement. He was also issued with a POL 59 form to seek treatment at Melaka Hospital," Christopher said in a statement today.

The police are currently in the process of seizing the suspect's motorcycle, helmet, and clothing worn during the incident. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

"Anyone with information related to this case is urged to come forward and assist with the investigation by contacting the Melaka Tengah District Police Headquarters or the nearest police station," Christopher added.

The incident was brought to public attention after a 17-second video of the altercation went viral on Facebook. – March 29, 2029
