SIX Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel remain hospitalised following the tragic road accident involving an FRU truck and a lorry in Teluk Intan last Tuesday, according to Perak Health Director Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha.

He said five of the injured officers are currently being treated at Teluk Intan Hospital (HTI), while one has been admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh.

“Of the five patients currently receiving treatment at HTI, four of them are in the ICU while the other is in the Surgical Ward. His condition is improving and he may be discharged soon,” he told reporters at HTI earlier today.

As for the officer receiving treatment at HRPB, Dr Feisul confirmed that he is gradually regaining consciousness. “Despite having sustained serious injuries, he is showing positive signs of recovery,” he said.

He added that the FRU personnel in the ICU at HTI are also responding well to treatment, although one remains under close observation.

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, visited the hospital today and met with the families of the injured officers, offering his support and condolences.

The crash occurred at approximately 8.50 am on Tuesday along Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan, when an FRU truck carrying personnel collided with a lorry transporting gravel. The officers were en route back to their base in Sungai Senam at the time of the accident.

Nine FRU members were killed in the incident, while nine others sustained injuries. - May 17, 2025
