HIS Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, today launched the “Perlis Connect” flagship programme before a crowd of nearly 2,000 at Padang Besar Street.

The initiative is designed to broaden digital awareness, empower consumers, and support innovation and entrepreneurship within the local community through a series of interactive activities and strategic outreach.

“Perlis Connect serves as a platform to expose the public to advancements in communication technology and digital tools,” organisers said.

Highlights included briefings on international roaming services, cybersecurity awareness through the Safe Internet Campaign (Kempen Internet Selamat, KIS), demonstrations of the MCMC NEXUS application, and exhibitions featuring locally made products by entrepreneurs from the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI).

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) also set up a complaints counter to offer advisory services and facilitate public access to communications-related information, thereby enhancing government outreach at ground level.

National news agency Bernama contributed its editorial expertise and leveraged its media platforms to spotlight local entrepreneurial success stories. The effort included live interviews, news coverage, and broadcasts from Bernama’s mobile studio at the event.

Also present were the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications, Dato’ Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa; MCMC Commissioner General (Rtd) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin; and Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin. - August 16, 2025
