Police detained the suspect at a flat in Cheras at about 2am on Wednesday. Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, confirmed the arrest and said the suspect has been remanded for three days to assist investigations.

ACP Hoo said: “The suspect has been remanded for three days to assist investigations into the incident. Further investigations are being carried out to determine the motive.”

Police said the man was detained earlier in Taman Ikan Emas.

The arrest followed a police report lodged by Haresh, who was attacked at Jalan Maarof near the parking area of a shopping complex as he was walking along the pavement towards Jalan Telawi.

Haresh, who is also co-founder of the news portal TwentyTwo13, filed his report at the Bangsar Police Beat Base at 4pm on Tuesday. In a post on X, he said he had been assaulted by two men, while a third individual recorded the incident on a mobile phone. - November 26, 2025
