The shooting occurred on Perry Street in Tallahassee near the university campus, according to the university. Tallahassee police said the injured comprised six adults and six juveniles.
"At least three of the shooting victims have sustained serious injuries, while nine others are reported to be in stable condition," police said in a statement.
Police Chief Lawrence Revell said it was particularly distressing that children were among those injured. The youngest victim was 11, the New York Post reported.
