MACCI - Catalysing Malaysia-Africa economic synergy

THE Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI) is a pivotal institution dedicated to fostering and enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations between Malaysia and African nations.

Established to bridge the gap between these two diverse regions, MACCI provides a dynamic platform for businesses, investors, and industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and thrive.

With a mission centred on building mutual prosperity through business diplomacy, MACCI is committed to connecting enterprises, policymakers, and investors from both regions.

As outlined on its official platform www.mafricc.org, MACCI serves as “The Ultimate Business Network” — providing access to trusted business connections, cross-continental market insights, and bilateral trade facilitation.

MACCI operates in close collaboration with various African Embassies and High Commissions in Malaysia, including those of Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Guinea, Kenya, and Algeria.

These diplomatic missions play a crucial role in facilitating direct engagement with their respective national governments and private sectors, providing essential support for Malaysian businesses aiming to explore African markets.

In addition, MACCI maintains strategic affiliations with National Chambers of Commerce and Industry across Africa, serving as vital conduits for cross-border collaboration and policy dialogue.

To ensure comprehensive engagement, MACCI aligns with major Malaysian trade organisations which among other include the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).

Under the new leadership of Amarjeet Singh Ghai, President of MACCI, with a vision to serve as “The Ultimate Business Network,” the chamber is committed to facilitating sustainable economic growth and development by fostering strategic partnerships, advocating for favourable trade policies, and offering comprehensive resources and support to its members.

Equipped with more than 35 years experience

Amarjeet has over 35 years of professional working experience comprising 15 years in the United Kingdom and 20 years in Malaysia. Until recently he also served as the Chairman of the Malaysian British Society(MBS). He has been praised for the significant success of MBS under his leadership.

Amarjeet is the Managing Partner of AGS Advisory.

He is a licensed and registered auditor with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Ministry of Finance, Labuan Financial Services Authority ("LFSA"), and Malaysia Cooperatives Commission (SKM). He intends to bring all his skills and experience to make MACCI a successful and influential organization.

MACCI remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and ethical trade relations. By promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and south-south cooperation, the Chamber aims to build resilient supply chains and shared value across key sectors such as agriculture and agribusiness; infrastructure and construction; and renewable energy.

According to Amarjeet, MACCI has planned several workshops and trade missions in different parts of Africa this year to boost business activities between Malaysia and Africa.

"MACCI is positioned to be a catalyst for economic diplomacy, enabling mutual growth through business delegation exchanges, trade and investment forums, sector-specific matchmaking and exhibitions, and raining and capacity-building programmes.

"These initiatives aim to enable Malaysian businessmen to explore opportunities in Africa and make investments.

"By operating as a neutral and inclusive platform, MACCI facilitates transparent and ethical business practices, promoting inclusive economic transformation," added Amarjeet. - May 14, 2025
