THE Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) returns for its 21st edition today with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiates the opening, as the country positions itself to expand its influence in the fast-growing global halal economy.

Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS 2025 is expected to draw more than 45,000 visitors and host 2,400 booths representing exhibitors and buyers from 80 countries.

Held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), this year’s event carries the theme ‘Pinnacle of Halal Excellence’ and covers a broad range of halal-compliant sectors, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, Islamic finance, modest fashion, personal care, cosmetics, food and beverage, and Muslim-friendly tourism.

MATRADE said MIHAS continues to serve as a key international platform for halal trade and business matching, with this year’s programme including its signature International Sourcing Programme (INSP), Halal Knowledge Hub seminars, industry dialogues, and an awards ceremony recognising innovation and leadership in halal sectors.

In a further effort to globalise Malaysia’s halal exports, MATRADE also announced ‘MIHAS@Shanghai’, which will run from 5 to 10 November alongside the China International Import Expo (CIIE). The initiative is aimed at opening new doors for Malaysian companies in China’s expanding halal consumer base.

The previous edition, MIHAS 2024, recorded RM4.3 billion in trade value – the highest in its history – underscoring Malaysia’s continued dominance in global halal trade. - September 19, 2025
