KUALA LUMPUR – Axiata Group Bhd has announced the appointment of Datuk Mohd Izzaddin Idris as its managing director/president and group chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2021.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the multinational telecommunications conglomerate said Mohd Izzaddin would be taking over from Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim who retired today after helming Axiata since its inception in 2008.

Axiata said prior to this appointment, Izzaddin was appointed executive director/deputy group chief executive officer on Jan 24, 2020.

“He joined the board of Axiata in November 2016 as a non-independent non-executive director, and was redesignated as an independent non-executive director in March 2019,” the group said. 

Prior to joining Axiata, Izzaddin was the group managing director/chief executive officer of UEM Group Bhd, a position he held from July 2009 until his departure in October 2018.

Izzaddin holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Fellow of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Australia, and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). – Bernama, December 31, 2020
