LOCAL contractors have the opportunity to secure 35 East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) facilities management packages worth an estimated RM12.7 million for 2027, alongside 65 commercial retail spaces to be made available across railway stations.

ECRL Operation Sdn. Bhd. (EOSB) stated that the opportunities were presented during the ECRL Supporting Services Entrepreneurs and Contractors Roadshow, which took place across five locations in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang from 28 September until yesterday.

The 35 facility management packages encompass premise cleaning, landscape maintenance, pest control, building maintenance, and air-conditioning system servicing.

Simultaneously, 65 retail spaces comprising kiosks and pushcarts will be offered at ECRL stations for food and beverage outlets, retail goods, travel necessities, local products, souvenirs, and passenger-related services.

EOSB Chief Executive Officer Mohd Zaidi Sharif said the participation of local entrepreneurs and contractors is essential to support the operation of ECRL stations, buildings, and facilities.

He noted that involving the local business community is expected to generate employment, upgrade workforce skills, and expand the market for regional products across ECRL stations.

The roadshow attracted 1,665 participants in total, including 321 in Kelantan, 534 in Terengganu, and 810 in Pahang.

The strong attendance reflects the keen interest among local communities to integrate into the ECRL ecosystem ahead of its operational phase. - October 3, 2026
