KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Syed Abdul Aziz Syed Hassan is expected to become Bank Kerjasama Rakyat’s (Bank Rakyat) new chief executive officer (CEO) following his stint as acting CEO for the past six months.

Sources said Bank Negara Malaysia is expected to make the announcement soon.

Aziz, who is presently the bank’s deputy chief executive officer of operations, has been the acting CEO since November last year.

The position fell vacant after former CEO Datuk Rosman Mohamed was ended his tenure on January 31.

Aziz, 58, graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara in 1983 and continued his studies at Ohio University in 1987 with a degree in business administration.

Syed Aziz is also the group chief executive officer of Rakyat Holdings Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Rakyat – a position he has held since 2012.

The banker has more than 25 years’ working experience in property development, construction and related activities covering every aspect of property development from land acquisition, feasibility study, design development, construction, and development up to the handing over of vacant possession. – The Vibes, June 17, 2021
