KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia staged a rebound in early trade today amid improved buying sentiment in line with the positive Wall Street performance overnight.

At 9.53am, the benchmark FBM KLCI rose 4.16 points to 1,405.97 from yesterday’s close of 1,401.81.

The market bellwether opened 5.35 points higher at 1,407.16.

In the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners 319 to 204 while 289 counters were unchanged, 1,442 untraded, and seven others suspended.

The ringgit maintained its positive momentum against the US dollar in early trade today, as continued global uncertainties prompted more investors to shift towards emerging currencies, including the ringgit, a dealer said.

At 9.20am, the local note rose to 4.4710/4750 versus the greenback from yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4830/4885. – Bernama, March 21, 2023
