Star Media Group one of top active counters after The Edge owner buys stake

KUALA LUMPUR – Star Media Group Bhd emerged as one of the most active counters in the early trading session, after The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd and its owner Tan Sri Tong Kooi Ong have surfaced as substantial shareholders.

At 9.46am, the Star Media share prices rose 8.5 sen to 59.5 sen, with 61.1 million shares changing hands.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Star Media said that Tong owns a direct interest of 1.84 million shares or 0.25% stake as well as 37.5 million shares or 5.17% indirect interest through The Edge Communications.

With a total of 5.42% stake, The Edge and its owner Tong would be substantial shareholders in the Main Market-listed Star Media. MCA is the controlling shareholder of Star Media, holding 45.4% equity interest. – Bernama, April 26, 2023
