A RECENT report said that the average Vietnamese person ate 81 packets of instant noodles last year, news portal VnExpress reported yesterday.
This makes the country the world's highest per capita consumer of instant noodles.
South Korea came in second with an average of 79 packets of instant noodles consumed by its citizens, according to the Korea Times, citing a report by the World Instant Noodle Association based in Osaka, Japan.
Thailand came in third with 57 servings per capita, followed by Nepal (54), Indonesia (52) and Japan and Malaysia (47 each).
It was followed by the Philippines (39) and China, including Hong Kong (31), completing the top ten.
Per capita consumption of instant noodles is typically high in Asian countries with traditional noodle-eating cultures. - November 11, 2025
