PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the works of the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee as far more than popular entertainment, saying they embody the values, cultural depth and artistic identity of Malaysia.
He made the remarks after attending the Live P. Ramlee Madu Tiga Concert, presented by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas on Sunday night.
“I had the opportunity to watch the Live P. Ramlee Madu Tiga Concert at the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra under the leadership of the outstanding conductor Ahmad Muriz Che Rose, together with his team who were highly dedicated and professional in delivering a truly impressive musical performance,” Anwar said in a post on his Facebook page.
He said the artistic contributions of the late maestro continue to offer important lessons on creativity, commitment and excellence in artistic expression.
“The art of the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee teaches us the importance of creativity and dedication in producing works, while also providing inspiration to all,” he added.
Anwar also expressed hope that younger generations would continue to value and preserve the nation’s artistic heritage, while remembering and honouring P. Ramlee’s immense contribution to the country’s entertainment industry. - January 24, 2026
