POLICE are awaiting further instructions from the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on an investigation into Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim’s allegation that he was forced to sign a proclamation instrument without his consent.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation papers were referred to the AGC on Sept 29 for review and further directions.

“Police are awaiting the AGC’s decision and further instructions regarding the investigation papers.

“Any further action or investigation by the police will be subject to the AGC’s review and directions,” he said in a written parliamentary reply published on Parliament’s website.

Saifuddin was responding to Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah), who asked about the status of the investigation into a police report lodged by Ismail on Sept 8, 2026, and the action taken or planned against those involved.

He said police had received the report, opened an investigation and recorded statements from four individuals to assist with the probe.

“Police will take appropriate action in accordance with the applicable laws.

“The Home Ministry assures that the police will conduct the investigation professionally, transparently and in accordance with the law, without favouring any party,” he said.

Ismail had previously maintained that he signed the proclamation instrument seeking the removal of Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir against his will. - October 22, 2026
